Cruel Winter of Injustice
This is a bad winter. Already its shown its cruel cold face. People suffer. The cold makes every hardship worse. A young girl died of hypothermia in Montana. Homeless people will freeze to death or catch their death in cardboard boxes where they try to survive covered with plastic, newspapers, and maybe a filthy rag of a blanket.
Little children will get sick more often and more seriously. Some will die from the flu or pneumonia. Old people will find it harder to breathe and harder still to stay warm. Some of them, too, won’t make it until spring.
Animals, both wild and domestic, will suffer through hunger and bone-chilling cold, the water frozen, and food hard to find.
Meanwhile in Washington there’s a cold hard truth we never wanted to know, but it’s there anyway, right in our faces. Truth is it’s being shoved down our throats.
The Republican Senate Majority has chosen to let America down. Kentucky Senator Mitch McConnell, that Moscow-loving majority leader, is stomping on the constitution and skimping on the truth. He’s chosen to protect the criminal president instead of doing his duty.
All the Senate Republicans have chosen wrong over right. There are no patriots, no statesmen or stateswomen among them. They are splashed with the yellow markings of their cowardice. They represent no one but themselves. They’ve accepted and participated in wrong so long they do not recognize truth as it stares them in the face. They refuse to see it or to know it. Truth is no friend to them; they are it’s adversary.
The Senate will betray the nation. They’ll cover up for Trump. The truth will not be told by witnesses. They will not hear those who know.
Senate Republicans are a sorry bunch. Their hearts are cold, and their pockets are lined with cash. They stink of filthy lucre as they rot in their endless greed.
Attacking House Democrats they hope to distract from his crimes and cover up or scratch away what is real.
They will pretend to be righteously outraged at Democrats for attacks on their dear president; while knowing in their hearts he’s a scoundrel and a liar who tried to use the nation’s assets to feather his own fetid nest. He obviously tried to bribe a foreign leader. The GOP, however, will look away and say they see no evil.
The will protect evil and allow Trump to move on to do greater damage. They treat our freedom lightly, and discount the threats it faces.
They are slime. Nothing more than lubricious pond scum. Traitors. Shirkers of duty. Cowards one and all. The nation sees you.
Hopefully they’ll get their just rewards for refusing to uphold the constitution. If there was justice in this country, now would be the time it would be championed and fought for. But there’s not, because they do not honor it.
They’re putting on a show for fools and only fools will be deceived. It’s disastrous there are so many fools. The US has become a nation that puts its best money on war, a broken criminal justice system, and rewards for the rich. At the same time it neglects education to create a more ignorant, foolish, and easily misled percentage of the population. That is how they win.
If we properly educate all our citizens it will be much harder for a madman like Trump to come to power. The nation would be smarter, safer, and a small majority of senate republicans would not be allowed to risk our way of life.
To republicans conducting a sham trial in the senate: May they be among the first to suffer when this country is ruined and her citizens are no longer safe nor free.
The long winter will pass, though it’s unknown what will remain of this once just and powerful nation. It’s questionable, too, whether the people of the US can recover from the reign of Trump. It must end in November or it will be our end.
