USA Headed toward First Dictatorship?3 I
They say politics is the ultimate game of strategy. But as Rahm Immanuel said on ABC at the start of the coverage of the Democratic Convention, this is no game.
The 2020 election really is the equivalent of life or death for our country as we know it. This democratic republic cannot withstand another four years of Donald Trump. The wounds are already deep and bloody, and Trump and his minions have infected the wounds with deadly diseases like racism, white supremacy, lawlessness, betrayal, and lies — oh the lies — that would be laughable if not for the fact some people believe them.
Enough damage has been done and the Democrats have to find a way to stem the tide of constant outrageous changes that are not good for the country, individuals, or families.
In some ways, Trump is already a dictator. Think about it. He breaks laws daily with impunity. It’s illegal to campaign on public property, especially, at the White House. Trump did it. No one did anything about it. It’s illegal to authorize spending that has not been through Congress, but Trump does it anytime he wants. It’s illegal to use the nation’s funds to pay off political pals, but he did it and not much was even said about it. It’s unethical if not illegal to fill the highest positions in the administration with family members. It’s horrible and unthinkable that a president of these United States would know about another country putting a bounty on our soldiers and do nothing about it. But he did not do and will not do a damn thing. He may be almost a dictator here in the US, but just as frightening, he’s Putin’s pawn.
Trump is already more of a dictator and has ignored more laws than any president in recent history. He is already calling the shots. He’s trying to stop a legitimate election procedure. He is interfering with the military. Any student of history can see exactly where this is going.
He does not intend to give up his office peacefully. He will probably have to be removed physically by the military. Hopefully, he won’t be able to spark a civil war like he would so like to do. Hopefully, Americans are smarter than that.
But it doesn’t look like it.
